In the mid-70s, the awesome guitarist John McLaughlin (nicknamed Mahavishnu) joined forces with Zakir Hussain, a talented Indian tabla player, for what was to turn into a fabulous human and musical adventure. Joined by other musicians, the two men produce a mythical fusion of jazz and Indian classical music. That night, the duo was accompanied by the vocals of Shankar Mahadevan, the percussion of V. Selvaganesh and the electric mandolin of U. Srinivas: the staggering line up who gave us Remember Shakti, the 1997 album that marked their big comeback. (FFJM © 2004)
