Erik Truffaz, Sly Johnson & Marcello Giuliani

12.07.2011

Interview by Montreux Jazz TV

Erik Truffaz is a Swiss Jazz trumpet player. His style often recalls Miles Davis, however his music is more like a mixture of genre. Surrounded with artists from various background, Erik Truffaz visits and tries a vast range of styles giving different tastes to his albums: rap, rock, drum & bass, electro. With In Between, released in 2010, Truffaz reunited with his quartet and offers to the album a more melancholic tone with dreamlike arrangements.

Sly Johnson is a french singer and rapper, formerly member of the band Simple Spirit. From 1997 to 2007, he is known as the King of Beatboxing under the pseudonym The Mic Bouddha, within the Saïan Supa Crew. In 2008, he contributed with the Trumpet player Erik Truffaz to realize the conceptual album, Paris. The result is an amazing blend of voice, trumpet and beatboxing. He will join Erik Truffaz and his Quartet on the Miles Davis Hall stage on July 11.
